5 Ways To Keep Fit While In Lockdown

It's not a great time to be a mountain biker. We want to go out and ride, but the lockdown makes that impossible. Even in countries where riding a bike is allowed, cyclists are encouraged to ride responsibly and only be outside for a short time.

Not being able to ride isn't great for our fun factor, but it can also cause a lot of health and fitness issues, but the good news is you can keep fit while at home and here's how.

Zwift

Zwift is an online virtual bike trainer that offers riders the chance to ride, and race around the world. The online element means that you can join your friends, and meet new riders from all over the globe.

To get the most out of Zwift you'll need a smart turbo trainer. With a smart trainer connected to Zwift the system with mimic climbs and downhills. Choose to ride for fun, enter challenges or races. It's basically an online game that keeps you fit!

Yoga

Yoga is an excellent way to keep in shape while in lockdown. You don't need any special equipment or weights, and you easily perform Yoga in your living room or in the yard.

Yoga is excellent for keeping your body supple and limber, and once you get on your bike again you'll appreciate spending your time practising it during the COVID-19 lockdown.

If you don't know how to get into Yoga, search up some beginner lessons on YouTube. You could even get your kids and parents doing it too.

Weight Free Workout

Just like Yoga, a weight free workout program is a great way to keep fit or get into shape while you're in lockdown. While you don't need any special equipment, you will be lifting a heavyweight, yourself!

Again, YouTube is your friend and you'll be able to come across plenty of weight free workout ideas online.

Praep

Praep is a mountain bike and moto X specific core and upper body training app and apparatus. It consists of a set of riser bars similar to what you'll have on your bike that fits in a special clamp that you then rest on.

The clamp has different balance points that require more effort so you can level up as you get comfortable with it.

You can even install an app on your phone that adds a gaming element to your workout.

Run a marathon

Yup, just because you're in lockdown, it doesn't mean you can't take part in a marathon. Use one room, use your entire home, or use your garden. If you run enough laps you can eventually cover enough ground to have raced a marathon just like this guy.

We hope you all take care during this epidemic. Please stay healthy and please follow the rules set by your country. The sooner we stop the spread of COVID-19, the sooner we can get out to ride!
